Ex-Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters, 69, Gets Nine Years for Dominion Voting Machine Breach
Oct 3, 2024, 06:44 PM
Former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters, 69, was sentenced to nine years of incarceration by Colorado Judge Matthew Barrett for orchestrating a scheme to breach voting system data. Peters, who became a prominent figure among election conspiracists and an ally of MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, was found guilty in August of attempting to influence a public servant, official misconduct, and tampering with election equipment after facilitating the unauthorized access and distribution of her county's Dominion voting machine data. The breach, driven by false claims from former President Donald Trump that fraud altered the 2020 presidential election results, involved allowing an individual connected to Lindell to access and disseminate the data. Judge Barrett condemned Peters for abusing her position, stating, 'You are no hero. You abused your position and you're a charlatan.' Despite having no prior criminal record, Peters was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison and an additional six months in the Mesa County Detention Center, totaling nine years of incarceration.
