Ex-Colorado Clerk Tina Peters, Lindell Associate, Gets 9 Years for Dominion Voting Machine Breach
Oct 3, 2024, 06:34 PM
Former Colorado county clerk Tina Peters was sentenced to nine years in prison for leading a voting system data breach scheme involving Dominion voting machines, inspired by false claims that fraud altered the 2020 presidential election outcome. A jury found Peters guilty in August of orchestrating a security breach of Mesa County's elections computer system. The scheme involved tampering with election equipment and illegally accessing and copying sensitive voting machine data. Peters, an associate of Mike Lindell and a prominent figure among election conspiracy theorists, breached the system in an attempt to substantiate unfounded claims of widespread voter fraud. Before sentencing, Peters angered the judge by insinuating that he agreed with her conspiracy theories. The nine-year sentence is split between prison and county jail. The sentencing marks a significant development in efforts to uphold election integrity and hold accountable those who undermine the electoral process.
