Microsoft Unveils AI-Powered Copilot+ PCs, 58% Faster, Starting at $999
May 20, 2024, 07:30 PM
Microsoft has unveiled a new category of AI-powered personal computers called Copilot+ PCs at its annual Build conference. These PCs, featuring Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus processors, are designed to handle more artificial intelligence tasks without relying heavily on cloud data centers. The new devices include the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro, both boasting multi-day battery life of up to 22 hours and enhanced performance. Microsoft claims these AI-powered PCs are 58% faster than Apple's MacBook Air, with the Copilot+ PCs starting at $999 and available for preorder now, shipping on June 18. Partners such as Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, and Asus are also launching their own AI-ready PCs. The new Copilot+ PCs integrate AI directly into Windows 11, featuring tools like AI Explorer and a new 'Recall' feature for enhanced user interaction. These PCs also include NPUs capable of 40+ trillion operations per second (TOPS).
