Appeals Court Enables Release of Jack Smith's Trump Election Report After Delay

A U.S. appeals court has declined to block the release of special counsel Jack Smith's report on President-elect Donald Trump's efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals denied Trump's bid to prevent the public release of the final report detailing the findings of Smith's investigations into the former president. However, the court upheld Judge Cannon's injunction, which keeps the report under wraps for an additional three days, delaying its release until at least Sunday. Earlier, the appeals court had allowed Trump to file an amicus brief opposing the release. The decision clears the way for the Justice Department to make the report public after the injunction expires, although the exact timing remains unclear. Trump is expected to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court.
