VisitWolves Appoint Vitor Pereira as Head Coach on 18-Month Deal, Replacing O'Neil
Dec 19, 2024, 02:46 PM
Wolverhampton Wanderers have appointed Vitor Pereira as their new head coach on an 18-month contract, following the dismissal of Gary O'Neil last week. The Portuguese manager, who has previously managed Porto, Corinthians, and Flamengo, replaces O'Neil as Wolves seek to improve their standing, currently 19th in the Premier League. Wolves paid around £1 million in compensation to Al Shabab in the Saudi Pro League to secure Pereira's release. With their Premier League future in the balance, the club is gambling on a coach whose career has featured both spectacular highs and dramatic lows, including an invincible season with Porto. "This is a challenging moment for the club, and we want to thank Vitor for taking on this responsibility," said Wolves' management. Pereira now faces the task of steering Wolves away from relegation.
