VisitVenezuelan Opposition Leader González Tours Uruguay, Argentina, US to Bolster Support Before January 10
Jan 4, 2025, 08:02 PM
Venezuelan opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia, who claims victory in the country's July presidential election with 7 million votes, has embarked on a tour across Latin America to garner international support. González met with Argentine President Javier Milei in Buenos Aires, where he was greeted by thousands of Venezuelan expatriates at Plaza de Mayo outside the Casa Rosada. He also met with Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou in Montevideo, presenting both leaders with copies of election records that he asserts validate his win, having recovered over 85% of the acts. González plans to travel to the United States to meet with President Joe Biden and congressional leaders. He insists on returning to Venezuela on January 10 to assume the presidency, despite a $100,000 bounty issued by the Maduro government for his capture.
