VisitUnidentified Drones Disrupt U.S. Flight Operations at RAF Lakenheath, Mildenhall, Feltwell
Nov 23, 2024, 11:14 PM
Between November 20 and 22, unidentified drones were spotted over three U.S. Air Force bases in the United Kingdom: RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall in Suffolk, and RAF Feltwell in Norfolk. The drones, varying in size and configuration, were detected flying over and near these installations, leading to disruptions in flight operations involving F-35A and F-15E fighter jets. The U.S. Air Forces Europe confirmed the incidents, noting that the number of unmanned aerial systems fluctuated and that they were actively monitored. There were unconfirmed reports that fighter jets were scrambled to intercept the drones. Security concerns have been raised, as the bases are associated with the storage of nuclear weapons and house fourth- and fifth-generation aircraft.
