Trump Open to Musk or Ellison Buying TikTok, Says U.S. Should Get Half of $1 Trillion Value
Jan 21, 2025, 11:00 PM
President Donald Trump stated that he is open to Elon Musk purchasing TikTok, the popular social media app owned by China's ByteDance. He also expressed openness to Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison as a potential buyer. Trump mentioned that he has met with TikTok's owners and emphasized that the app is "worthless if it doesn't get a permit" to operate in the United States. He suggested that TikTok could be worth up to $1 trillion with the permit and proposed that if someone were to buy TikTok and give half of it to the U.S. government, he would support granting the necessary permit.
