The law requires TikTok's Chinese parent company, ByteDance, to sell or shut down the platform due to national security concerns. Trump submitted an amicus brief asserting that only he possesses the "consummate dealmaking expertise" to negotiate a resolution that addresses security issues while preserving Americans' access to TikTok, which boasts 170 million U.S. users. He is seeking to delay the ban to allow his incoming administration to pursue a political solution.
