VisitTesla Model Y Leads China Sales in 2024 with 480,309 Units, New 'Juniper' Variant Garners 50,000 Orders
Jan 13, 2025, 08:55 PM
Tesla Inc.'s Model Y became the bestselling car in China in 2024, with sales reaching 480,309 units, marking a 5.24% increase from the previous year. The success of the Model Y in China contrasts with a global decline in demand, as reported in countries like Norway, Iceland, and Luxembourg. The launch of the updated Model Y, known as the 'Juniper' variant, in January 2025, has seen significant interest, with Tesla reportedly receiving 50,000 orders on the first day of its launch in China. The new model, priced between 263,500 and 303,500 yuan, features a refreshed exterior, improved aerodynamics with a drag coefficient of 0.22 Cd, and a 100-liter more spacious trunk. Deliveries of the new Model Y are expected to start in March 2025 in China.
