Syrian Rebel Leader Al-Julani Declares No Conflict with Israel, Citing End of Iranian Forces, Plans Elections and Reconstruction

Abu Mohammad al-Julani, the leader of the Syrian rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), stated that Syria will not engage in conflict with Israel, asserting that the reasons for Israeli intervention have dissipated following the departure of Iranian forces from the country. In his remarks, al-Julani emphasized that the current situation in Syria is too strained for further conflict and called for international intervention to address what he described as unjustified Israeli military actions. He also expressed a willingness to communicate with Western embassies, including discussions with Britain to restore diplomatic relations. Al-Julani highlighted that there is no hostility towards the Iranian community and reiterated that his administration's focus is on reconstruction and development rather than warfare. He confirmed plans for a new governance structure that would include elections and stated that the Syrian Ministry of Defense will dissolve all armed factions, ensuring that no weapons remain outside state control.
