Sudanese President Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, who also heads the Transitional Sovereignty Council, survived an assassination attempt involving a drone strike on Wednesday morning, July 31. The attack targeted an army base in eastern Sudan during a military graduation ceremony attended by Al-Burhan. Five people, including students and an officer, were killed in the incident, and several others were injured. The Sudanese Armed Forces reported that they destroyed two hostile drones during the attack. No group, including the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has claimed responsibility for the assassination attempt. Army spokesman Nabil Abdallah stated that the RSF, which the army has been battling for control of the country, is to blame. The incident occurred in Gebit, approximately 100 kilometers from Port Sudan.
