FC Barcelona secured a commanding 5-2 victory over arch-rivals Real Madrid to win the Spanish Super Cup on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the King Abdullah Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Real Madrid took an early lead with a goal from Kylian Mbappé in the 5th minute, but Barcelona equalized through Lamine Yamal in the 22nd minute. Robert Lewandowski converted a penalty in the 36th minute to put Barcelona ahead, and Raphinha extended the lead with a header in the 39th minute. Before halftime, Alejandro Balde made it 4-1 in favor of Barcelona. Despite Wojciech Szczesny receiving a red card in the second half, reducing Barcelona to 10 men, the Catalan side continued to dominate. Raphinha scored his second goal in the 60th minute, bringing his tally to two goals and an assist. Rodrygo pulled one back for Real Madrid with a stunning free-kick, but Barcelona held on to win 5-2.
