Pope Francis has received his first fully electric Popemobile from Mercedes-Benz, marking a significant step toward sustainability for the Vatican. The vehicle, a modified pearl-white G-Class SUV, was developed in close cooperation with the Vatican to meet the specific needs of the Pope, including special places for the Swiss Guards. Mercedes-Benz has been supplying vehicles to the Vatican for nearly 100 years, and this latest emission-free model underscores the Pope's commitment to environmental stewardship. The all-electric Popemobile, which will debut during the Jubilee in 2025, features a heated rotating seat and a retractable roof, allowing the pontiff to greet pilgrims during public appearances such as those in St. Peter's Square. This move aligns with Pope Francis's ongoing advocacy for global action on the climate crisis.
