Poland has commenced the construction of the 'Eastern Shield' fortifications along its borders with Russia and Belarus, including the Kaliningrad exclave, as confirmed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. This strategic initiative, developed by the Ministry of National Defense and the General Staff of the Polish Army, aims to establish a comprehensive defense line to deter potential aggression. The project includes the construction of 800 kilometers of ditches, minefields, anti-tank barriers, and surveillance systems, with an allocated budget of $2.5 billion. The Eastern Shield also features fortified barriers, forward bases, logistical hubs, and various types of natural obstacles.
