VisitPenn State Removes Student Newspaper Racks on Wednesday Night Citing Ad Violations
Sep 20, 2024, 02:13 PM
Penn State University removed nearly three dozen racks containing the independent student-produced newspaper, The Daily Collegian, from on-campus locations on Wednesday night without notifying the Collegian. The university cited violations of advertising regulations and use of facilities as the reason for the removal. The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) is investigating the incident, asserting that public university administrators cannot police the content of independent student newspapers. Administrators at Penn State claim the removal was due to politics-related ads on the racks that violated school policy.
