VisitNorth Korea Launches Suspected Ballistic Missile Toward East Sea, Japan Coast Guard Confirms
Jun 25, 2024, 09:30 PM
North Korea launched a suspected ballistic missile toward the East Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan, early Wednesday morning. The launch was detected by both South Korean and Japanese authorities, including the Japan Coast Guard, with the missile appearing to have splashed down just minutes after its launch. The missile likely fell outside Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), and no damage has been reported so far. The launch, which originated from the Pyongyang area around 5:30 AM, marks a significant development in regional security tensions. Initial reports from Yonhap suggest the missile test may have ended in failure mid-flight and that it was a shorter range variety.
