The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has opened a preliminary evaluation into 781,459 Chrysler vehicles in the U.S. due to reports of underhood fires while the vehicles are in the ignition-off state. Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep, is cooperating with U.S. authorities in the investigation. The probe focuses on Jeep SUVs and pickup trucks, which have been reported to catch fire even when the engines are turned off.
