Merlin Entertainments, the operator behind attractions such as Alton Towers and Legoland, has secured global theme park rights to the popular video game Minecraft in a deal valued at £85 million. The agreement with Mojang Studios will see the development of two Minecraft-themed attractions, set to open in existing Merlin parks in the UK and the US between 2026 and 2027. Merlin Entertainments plans to invest approximately $110 million into these projects, marking a significant move to bring the best-selling virtual building game into real-life experiences.
