VisitMcDonald's Loses EU Trademark Rights for Chicken Big Mac in Supermac's Dispute
Jun 5, 2024, 09:32 AM
McDonald's has lost the rights to use the term 'Big Mac' for its chicken burgers in the European Union. The EU court ruled in favor of Supermac's, an Irish fast-food chain, in a trademark dispute with McDonald's. The decision came after it was found that McDonald's had not used the term 'Big Mac' for poultry products for five consecutive years. This ruling means McDonald's can no longer market chicken versions of its iconic Big Mac burgers in the EU. McDonald's stock symbol is $MCD.
