VisitMcCormick Wins Pennsylvania Senate Race; Schumer Blocks Orientation Amid Casey's Refusal to Concede
Nov 10, 2024, 05:34 PM
Republican Dave McCormick has been declared the winner of the Pennsylvania Senate race by the Associated Press, defeating three-term incumbent Democratic Senator Bob Casey. McCormick holds a lead of over 32,000 votes, amounting to approximately 0.5 percentage points—a margin that could prompt an automatic recount under state law. Despite the AP's projection, Casey has declined to concede, citing over 100,000 outstanding provisional ballots, particularly in Philadelphia. McCormick's campaign has filed a lawsuit challenging these provisional ballots, requesting the court to permit 'global challenges' to ballots. In response to Casey's refusal to concede, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is barring McCormick from participating in Senate orientation. Republican senators have criticized Schumer's decision, accusing him of election denial, and have offered to escort McCormick to the orientation, with Senator Mike Lee offering to accompany him into the Capitol.
