On December 24, 2024, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva signed two provisional measures releasing a total of R$ 6.7 billion to support recovery efforts in areas affected by recent climate disasters. The majority of the funds, amounting to R$ 6.5 billion, will be allocated to the state of Rio Grande do Sul, which experienced severe flooding earlier in the year. Additionally, R$ 233 million will be directed towards the Amazon and Pantanal regions, which have suffered from drought conditions. The measures aim to facilitate the reconstruction of infrastructure and provide necessary assistance to those impacted by extreme weather events.
