Residents across the Salt Lake Valley and the Wasatch Front reported hearing multiple loud booms on Thursday, prompting widespread concern and numerous calls to emergency services. The source of the noise was identified as artillery exercises conducted by Camp Williams and routine detonations at the Tooele Army Depot. The Sandy Police Department confirmed that the booms were part of scheduled training activities. The booms were felt from Kaysville in Davis County to Provo in Utah County, with some areas reporting at least a dozen explosions.
