On December 10, 2024, Jamie Foxx released his new Netflix stand-up comedy special titled 'What Had Happened Was...'. In the special, the 56-year-old actor and comedian revealed for the first time that his mysterious health scare in 2023 was a brain bleed that led to a stroke on April 11 while filming a movie in Atlanta. He recounted that he initially experienced a severe headache and was misdiagnosed by a doctor who thought it was just a headache. The stroke left him hospitalized, unconscious, and in a coma for 20 days. Foxx shared that he 'saw the tunnel' during his ordeal and didn't remember those 20 days of his life. He credited his 16-year-old daughter, Anelise, for helping save his life by playing guitar at his hospital bedside. After emerging from the coma, he underwent rehabilitation at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago.
