VisitJ&J Proposes $6.5 Billion Over 25 Years to Settle Ovarian Cancer Claims
May 1, 2024, 01:02 PM
Johnson & Johnson, through its subsidiary LLT Management LLC, has proposed a $6.5 billion settlement to resolve nearly all lawsuits in the U.S. claiming its talc-based products caused ovarian cancer. The settlement, intended to be managed through a prepackaged reorganization over 25 years, requires approval from a supermajority of claimants. This is Johnson & Johnson's third attempt to settle these disputes, involving tens of thousands of cases alleging that the company's baby powder and other talc products contain asbestos. Additionally, there are more pending lawsuits alleging that J&J products caused mesothelioma.
