Iran Maintains No Direct Contact With Syria's Transitional Government, Supports Sovereignty and Political Processes

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has stated that there is currently no direct contact between the Islamic Republic and the transitional government in Syria. Baghaei mentioned that Iran has been in communication with various opposition groups in Syria for a long time, emphasizing that Iran's presence in Syria was aimed at preventing the spread of terrorism and supporting political processes in the country. Iran has expressed its support for Syria's sovereignty and stressed that the country should not become a haven for terrorism.
