France and Germany have issued strong warnings to US President-elect Donald Trump against threatening the European Union's 'sovereign borders' following his refusal to rule out military action to take control of Greenland, an autonomous territory of EU and NATO member Denmark. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot emphasized that the EU would not allow any nation to attack its borders, while German Chancellor Olaf Scholz reiterated the principle of the inviolability of borders as fundamental international law. Trump's comments, made during a press conference, also included his interest in controlling the Panama Canal and turning Canada into a US state. These statements coincide with a visit by Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., to Greenland.
