VisitFBI Investigates WIV: Chinese Lab Linked to COVID-19 Leak May Have Released Polio Strain in 2014
Sep 6, 2024, 03:40 AM
A new study from France's Pasteur Institute suggests that a Chinese laboratory, previously linked to the COVID-19 leak, may have also released a highly evolved strain of polio in 2014. The study indicates that the polio strain could have derived from a laboratory strain originating from Saukett A, which might have been modified by mutagenesis or by passage in conditions leading to mutations in the capsid, such as the presence of neutralizing antibodies. The FBI has also been involved in investigating the lab, known as WIV. This revelation, reported by the Daily Mail, adds to concerns about lab safety and the potential for future virus leaks.
