VisitErdogan Open to Hosting Assad in Turkey 'At Any Moment' to Normalize Syria Relations
Jul 7, 2024, 11:20 AM
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed his willingness to invite Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to Turkey in an effort to normalize relations between the two countries. Erdogan's initiative comes as Turkey seeks to mend ties with Syria, which were severed following the 2011 war. Erdogan has indicated that the invitation could be extended at any moment, aiming to bring Turkey-Syria relations back to their previous state. Additionally, Erdogan discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin the potential visit of Putin to Turkey, which could further open new chapters in Turkey-Syria relations. Erdogan noted that only militants oppose the possible normalization between Turkey and Syria.
