VisitDOT Fines JetBlue $2 Million for Chronic East Coast Delays; $1 Million to Passengers
Jan 3, 2025, 06:33 PM
The U.S. Department of Transportation has fined JetBlue Airways $2 million for operating multiple chronically delayed flights due to unrealistic scheduling practices. This enforcement marks the first of its kind by the DOT against an airline for prohibited scheduling resulting in chronic delays. Half of the fine, $1 million, will be allocated towards compensating affected passengers. JetBlue agreed to pay the penalty, which was announced on Friday. The DOT's action targets the airline's flights along the East Coast, where JetBlue was found to have consistently failed to operate flights on time, harming both passengers and fair competition across the airline industry.
