VisitAstronomers Capture Detailed Images of R Doradus, Tracking Moving Bubbles of Gas
Sep 11, 2024, 05:00 PM
Astronomers have, for the first time, captured detailed images of a star other than the Sun, allowing them to track the motion of moving bubbles of gas on its surface. The star, R Doradus, located 178 light years away, was observed using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA). These images reveal that the star is covered in bubbles that are 75 times the size of our Sun. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the field of astronomy, providing new insights into stellar dynamics and surface phenomena.
