The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has announced its ability to raise $600 million to combat a surging mpox outbreak on the continent. The agency's head emphasized the urgency of the situation, noting that more than 100 people have died from mpox in Africa in the last week alone, accounting for almost 15 percent of all fatalities reported this year.
