Visit11th Circuit Clears Release of Jack Smith's Report on Trump's 2020 Election Interference, Three-Day Delay
Jan 10, 2025, 01:22 AM
A federal appeals court has cleared the way for the public release of special counsel Jack Smith's report on the 2020 election interference case against President-elect Donald Trump. The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected a challenge from Trump and his co-defendants in his classified documents case, who sought to block the report's release. However, the report will not be immediately released due to a temporary block by U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, which remains in effect for three days. The Justice Department plans to release the volume detailing Smith’s findings on Trump’s efforts to undo his 2020 election loss, but will keep the section on Trump’s classified documents case under wraps while legal proceedings against his co-defendants continue.
