Gabe Evans Defeats Yadira Caraveo in Close Race, GOP Near House Control
Nov 10, 2024, 11:03 PM
Gabe Evans, a Republican, has defeated incumbent Democrat Yadira Caraveo in a close race for Colorado's 8th Congressional District. Caraveo, who served one term, conceded the race to Evans on Sunday evening. This victory marks a significant gain for the GOP, flipping a previously Democratic seat and bringing the Republican House total to 214. The GOP is now just one seat away from securing control of the House. The 8th District was drawn to be a swing district, making this win particularly notable. Fairshake super PAC spent over $2 million in ads supporting Caraveo, but despite their efforts, she was unable to retain her seat. This win also gives Northern Colorado (NoCo) the representation they deserve.
