Kenya Repatriates Seven Abducted Turkish Nationals Under UN Protection, Including British National
Oct 21, 2024, 12:10 PM
Seven Turkish citizens under UN protection were reportedly abducted in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, by individuals believed to be associated with Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MİT) in coordination with Kenyan security officials. Among the abducted were a family of four. The incident, which also involved a British national, has raised concerns about transnational repression and violations of humanitarian laws. The abductors, described as armed men, took the Turkish citizens at gunpoint. Kenya's Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary, Singoei Korir, confirmed that four of the Turkish nationals were repatriated to Turkey on October 18, 2024, at the request of the Turkish government. The statement was issued three days after the incident. The Turkish citizens are linked to the Gülen movement, associated with Fethullah Gülen, who recently passed away in the US.
