Japan to Add Large Fin Whales to Whaling List, Says Govt Spokesperson

Japan has announced plans to include large fin whales in its commercial whaling species list, according to government spokesperson Yoshimasa Hayashi on Thursday. This decision comes five years after Japan withdrew from an international body that regulates commercial whale hunting. Since resuming commercial whaling in 2019, Japan has already been targeting three other whale species.
