Spain Deploys 10,000 Troops and Police to Valencia After Floods Kill 211
Nov 2, 2024, 01:00 PM
Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced the deployment of 10,000 additional soldiers and police officers to the eastern Valencia region following catastrophic flash floods this week. The floods, which have claimed 211 lives, prompted the largest peacetime mobilization of military and security forces in the country's history. The government is also deploying an amphibious Navy vessel to aid in the rescue and relief efforts. The priority remains on providing immediate assistance to the affected areas and ensuring the safety of residents, Sánchez said on Saturday.
