Ancient Giant Snake Fossils Unearthed in India, May Be Largest Ever
Apr 18, 2024, 04:35 PM
Recent excavations in India have unearthed fossils of an ancient snake, named Vasuki Indicus, which may be the largest snake ever discovered. Found in a mine in Gujarat, the snake is estimated to have lived around 47 million years ago and measured up to 49 feet in length, surpassing the size of a T. rex and potentially longer than a school bus. The findings, published in Scientific Reports, suggest that Vasuki Indicus weighed about a ton and represents a significant paleontological discovery.
