Ukraine Destroys 400 Iranian-Made Drones in Krasnodar Strike, Hits Khanskaya Airfield in Adygea
Oct 11, 2024, 12:02 PM
Ukraine's military has claimed a successful strike using a domestically-produced Neptune cruise missile on a Russian base in the Krasnodar region near Yeysk, reportedly destroying around 400 Iranian-made Shahed suicide drones. The base was a storage facility for drones Russia had received from Iran. This operation represents a significant blow to Russia's drone capabilities. Forbes reported that Russia has acquired more than 8,000 Shahed attack drones from Iran, and Ukraine may have destroyed five percent of them in a single attack. Satellite images obtained by Ukrainian media show the damaged Russian warehouses near Yeysk following the attack. In addition, Ukraine struck the Khanskaya airfield in the Republic of Adygea, damaging runways and destroying four missiles, 15 aerial bombs, and 41 UMPK devices stored there. One drone also struck an ammunition depot, causing multiple detonations. The Ukrainian General Staff also reported the destruction of a Russian Mi-8 helicopter in the Kharkiv direction.
