Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been invited to attend the inauguration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on January 20. Bolsonaro announced the invitation on social media and stated that his lawyer, Paulo Bueno, has requested the return of his passport from Supreme Federal Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes. The passport was seized by the Federal Police in February 2024 amid investigations into an alleged coup attempt. Bolsonaro expressed his honor at receiving the invitation from Trump and his Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, and thanked his son, Federal Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro, for his efforts in maintaining relations with Trump's family.
