China's Scenic Duku Highway Reopens After Winter Closure, Earliest in Five Years
Jun 2, 2024, 02:23 AM
The Duku Highway, also known as the Dushanzi-Kuqa Highway and considered one of China's most beautiful roads, reopened to tourists on June 1 after its annual winter closure. This year marks the earliest seasonal reopening in five years. The highway, located in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is renowned for its scenic beauty and diverse landscapes, including the Balruk Mountains. The reopening on Saturday has sparked a surge in tourism, with over 1,200 vehicles nationwide starting their journey on the highway, marking the start of the peak season for self-driving tours in Xinjiang.
