China celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival, also known as the Duanwu Festival, which fell on June 10 this year. The three-day festival saw a significant increase in tourism and domestic spending, with 110 million trips made across the country, marking a 6.3% increase from the previous year. Total travel spending reached 40.35 billion yuan ($5.57 billion), up 8.1% year-on-year. The box office totaled 378 million yuan ($52.16 million) during the holidays. Dragon boat races, a key highlight of the festival, were held in various regions, including Hunan, Guangdong, and Fujian provinces. The National Immigration Administration reported that daily inbound and outbound passenger trips during the festival reached 1.75 million, a 32.5% increase from last year. Traditional activities such as making zongzi, glutinous rice dumplings, were widely enjoyed, and various cultural events were held to celebrate the festival's rich heritage. The festival also saw international participation, with celebrations in places like Cape Town, South Africa, and among international students in Tianjin, China.
