Fine Gael Candidate Steps Down Over €30,000 Package, €100,000 Agreement for Planning Objections
May 28, 2024, 12:30 PM
Fine Gael local election candidate Marian Agrios has stepped down after it was revealed that she received payments from property developers to withdraw planning objections. Agrios received a €30,000 package from one developer, which included €15,000 in cash and €15,000 worth of work on her house, including a new sandstone patio. Additionally, she signed an agreement for more than €100,000 worth of work to her house to withdraw another planning objection. The developer informed her in October, 2020 that the payment and work would be delayed due to the pandemic. Following these revelations, Fine Gael has begun a disciplinary process against Agrios.
