VisitU.S. Supreme Court Allows Emergency Abortions in Idaho Under Federal Law at Medicare-Funded Hospitals
Jun 27, 2024, 02:52 PM
The U.S. Supreme Court has decided to permit emergency abortions in Idaho for the time being, allowing abortions in medical emergencies when a woman's health is at risk. This decision follows a federal law requiring doctors at Medicare-funded hospitals to provide emergency care, including abortions. The ruling was inadvertently posted online on Wednesday and hospitals in Idaho receiving federal funds are temporarily allowed to provide emergency abortions despite the state's near-total ban on the procedure.
