French police shot and killed an armed man who was attempting to set fire to a synagogue in Rouen, a city in the Normandy region, on Friday. The incident was confirmed by Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin and Rouen Mayor Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol. The suspect, who appeared to be planning an attack, was 'neutralised' by the police after attacking officers with a knife. The local mayor thanked the police for their responsiveness and courage in handling the situation.
