Mumbai Worli Hit-and-Run: Woman Killed by Speeding BMW Driven by Mihir Shah, Shiv Sena Leader's Son
Jul 7, 2024, 11:57 AM
A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred in Mumbai's Worli area early Sunday morning at 5:30 am when a speeding BMW, allegedly driven by Mihir Shah, son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah, struck a bike carrying a fisherman and his wife. The woman, identified as Kaveri Nakhwa, was killed, and her husband was injured. The BMW dragged the woman for 100 meters before fleeing the scene. The incident has sparked significant public outcry and political reactions. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray have called for strict legal action against the perpetrator. The police have detained Rajesh Shah and Rajendra Singh Bidawat, who were present in the car, while Mihir Shah remains absconding. Authorities have formed six police teams to locate Mihir Shah. Forensic teams are inspecting the confiscated BMW, and CCTV footage shows Mihir Shah leaving a Juhu bar late at night before the incident. The car's insurance had expired, and Mihir Shah's girlfriend is being grilled by the police.
