Mumbai Worli Hit-and-Run: Woman Killed by Speeding BMW Driven by Absconding Shiv Sena Leader's Son
Jul 7, 2024, 11:56 AM
A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred in Mumbai's Worli area early Sunday morning. A speeding BMW, allegedly driven by Mihir Shah, son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah, struck a fisherman and his wife on a bike near Atria Mall. The woman, identified as Kaveri Nakhwa, 45, was dragged for 100 meters and died from her injuries, while her husband was injured. The incident happened at around 5:30 am as the couple was returning from buying fish. The driver fled the scene, and the police have detained Rajesh Shah and Rajendra Singh Bidawat, who were present in the car. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured that strict legal action would be taken against the guilty, emphasizing equal treatment under the law. Authorities are investigating the case, and a forensic team has been involved. CCTV footage shows Mihir Shah leaving a bar in Juhu late at night before the incident. The car's insurance had expired, and Mihir Shah is currently absconding. Mihir Shah's girlfriend is being grilled by the police.
