Shimla Court Orders Waqf Board to Demolish Three Illegal Mosque Floors Within Two Months
Oct 5, 2024, 12:35 PM
Shimla, Himachal Pradesh: The Shimla Municipal Commissioner has ordered the demolition of three unauthorised storeys of the Sanjauli mosque, requiring the Masjid committee and the Waqf Board to dismantle the illegal constructions at their own cost within two months. The structures were built beyond permissible limits. The Waqf Board's advocate, B.S. Thakur, stated that they respect the court's order and had already expressed willingness to remove the unauthorised portions. The Chairman of the mosque committee, Latif Negi, affirmed their compliance, saying they had provided written assurance to demolish the illegal floors. The court dismissed the Waqf Board's application, and the decision is part of the ongoing Sanjauli Mosque controversy.
