Priyanka Gandhi Wins Wayanad By-election in Electoral Debut with Record Margin of 4,10,931 Votes
Nov 23, 2024, 08:50 AM
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made a significant electoral debut by winning the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election in Kerala with a record margin of 4,10,931 votes. She secured a total of 6,22,338 votes, surpassing her brother Rahul Gandhi's previous record in the constituency. The by-election was necessitated by Rahul Gandhi's resignation from the seat. Priyanka expressed her gratitude to the voters, stating, "I look forward to being your voice in Parliament." Rahul Gandhi thanked the people of Wayanad, saying, "Priyanka will lead with courage and compassion to transform Wayanad." Priyanka defeated CPI(M)-led LDF's candidate Sathyan Mokeri and BJP's Navya Haridas, who trailed significantly throughout the counting process.
