Russian Guided Bomb Hits Kharkiv's Saltivka District, Killing Two Children; 36 Injured
Oct 31, 2024, 04:53 AM
Russian forces launched an airstrike on a nine-story residential building in the Saltivka district of Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, on the evening of October 30, causing significant destruction and casualties. The attack, involving a guided KAB-500 aerial bomb, destroyed the building's entrance from the first through fifth floors and led to power outages in parts of the city. Ukrainian authorities reported that at least three people were killed, including a 12-year-old boy, a 15-year-old teenager, and a 25-year-old man. Additionally, 36 people were injured, among them several children. Rescue operations are ongoing, with efforts complicated by the structural damage and risk of collapse. Kharkiv Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov and Mayor Ihor Terekhov are overseeing the emergency response. President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack, highlighting the daily hardships faced by Ukrainian civilians amid the conflict.
